gender reveal: it's a...

I announced last week that we were finding out the sex of the baby and I can’t wait to share the news with you! You may be wondering how we got to find out so early, well thanks to modern medicine there is now a blood test that can be done as a form of genetic testing that can also reveal the baby’s sex and is 99% effective. Luckily baby is also healthy and low risk (thank goodness)!

One of the questions I got asked a lot was did I have a preference in the gender? While I always just hope for a happy and healthy baby, I would be lying if I said I didn’t kind of want a girl so that Tayler could have a sister. I am an only child and since I don’t have siblings, I see a lot of people I know who have sisters and their bond is something I always wanted for Tayler. But, another part of me thought how fun it would be to have a boy and have one of each! So either way I would be happy with the outcome (Wes felt the same way).

I sent the test results to my best friend who decided to fill a box with balloons that we could all unveil together as a family. The first time around Wes and I did the gender reveal privately. It was our first and we wanted it to be a special experience. She got us a cupcake and we cut into the center together. I remember being totally shocked that it was a girl because for some reason I had a feeling it was a boy! At first I was kind of sad, but then of course thrilled with the idea having a girl because I am such a girly-girl at heart. Now that Tayler is here, we wanted her to be able to join in on the fun of this gender reveal! And since our best friends were the first ones to know we were pregnant, it was only fitting that they and their kids be in on the mix too! They were the ones that took these photos and video (see my Instagram account for the video of our reaction).

So without further ado, it’s a….

Our friends little boy Maverick had to get in on the balloon action, LOL.
