spring & summer essentials list.

We are FINALLY experience Spring weather here in Seattle and I've pretty much been wearing these 5 essentials on repeat. As a stylist, I always tell my clients that they should have these 5 things in their closet {they fluctuate based on season - so here are the Spring/Summer versions}.

spring essentials everyone should have in their closet

1. A good pair of white denim - these Madewell button fly are the best I've found. They are high waisted and SO flattering. You can even size down one because they have a ton of stretch. They are cropped so if you are taller you should go with the tall version {they come in different lengths}. I have also linked similar options at all different price points.

2. A denim jacket - It doesn't really matter which type of denim jacket, it's just essential to have one. I tend to prefer the trucker jacket style as it's a lot more loose fitting and more of an oversized look. You can style these over dresses, with white denim, or you can opt for a white one so you can wear with regular denim. I have linked a lot of options so pick one you think will flatter your body and will go with the majority of your wardrobe. How fun is the Free People one with all the pearl details!?

3. Statement jewelry - this is the easiest way to dress up a simple t-shirt and jeans and add some color to a more neutral wardrobe. What I love about the necklaces I've linked is that they can be worn multiple ways. If wearing all 5 strands is too much for you, you can take off each strand to wear them separately. If a statement necklace is too much for you, try a pair of fun earrings - they are so easy and add a lot of character!

4. Sandals or slides: Whenever the weather gets a bit warmer I tend to ditch the boots or anything that requires socks and go for a slide or sandal. They look great with any kind of denim and of course, dresses! A big trend that has made a come-back are wedge espadrille sandals (they are so comfy too because they are a wedge)!

5. Woven handbag - this trend has been HUGE this year and I'm loving it! It goes back to the classic straw tote bag that was used for the beach and reminds me of days on the water with family! It comes in several variations such as a clutch, crossbody or tote.

BONUS: overalls - this one is a bonus add as it's definitely a trendier option, but one that I am absolutely loving! Rule of thumb: size up one as you want them to fit a bit lose - this means that you could style them with a form-fitting shirt underneath and a slide or sandal (nothing too bulky). I've linked a few shirts great for layering under overalls, too!
